Shove Scrapper's Block OUT THE DOOR!

Shove Scrapper’s Block OUT THE DOOR!

Scrapper’s Block – I think every avid scrapbooker has ran into it and become entrapped. No ideas flow and therefore – no scrapbooking is accomplished. I too have been there and it is a tough predicament to fight your way out of BUT I have found a solution that works for me. I hope you will find it helpful as well.

Previously, when the scrapper’s block bug would bite, I would sit at my table and attempt to think of ideas that I could finish and then add my photos too. It was the pitts! I would think and think and then realize that all my time was gone. Another scrapping session terminated without any results. Then I changed my technique just a bit and found that I had smashed the dreaded scrapper’s block bug. It is simple, it is easy, and I can’t believe I wasted so much time!

The entire focus of my scrapbooking is my photos. I have seen many scrapbooks that are amazing, however, the layout is so intricate that the focus is transferred to the embellishments and the photos remain second in line. After piecing a few layouts like that, I decided that – although I love those truly amazing pages – I wanted to let my photos take the stage and not the layout. I began looking at my photos first and that is when my fountain of ideas began flowing again. I can look at a group of photos and clearly see a great title that would perfectly describe them. I remember the moment and look at the photos and there is no doubt which title I will use to represent that memory. And it continues… once I have the title, it is really simple to find paper the coordinates with the title and the photos. I then pick out a few embellishments (remember that I am trying to focus on the pictures and not the layout) and in no time and am piecing together a beautiful layout that focuses on the photos.

I have tried many techniques (a good idea book has also saved me), but I have found that if I will focus on the photos for a minute before starting my project (which should be the focus in the first place) the photos help me decide the title, the paper, and even the layout! Give it a try!
